RUN 4 FUN

    Championship We run in the backyard for many different reasons. We run because it is fun. We run to socialize with our friends (old and new). We run to go further than we have ever gone before…. But, for many of us, we run because we want to eventually go to Big Dog’s Backyard, and pit ourselves against the best in the world. And why should we not harbor such ambitions? In the backyard, anyone can win. One of the fundamental imperatives for any sport is to leave the outcome in the hands of the athlete. And so we want it to be in the backyard. Your road to Big’s is attached.               THERE IS NO FINISH!   Julgo que esta frase expressa bem o espírito deste novo nível de loucura. Esta é uma corrida que nas suas horas iniciais não parece ser particularmente exigente. Afinal trata-se de correr voltas consecutivas de 6706 metros em menos de 60 minutos . O objetivo final é completar 24 voltas, ou continuar até que todos os outros atletas tenham desistido. No entanto à medida que as horas, os kms, e sobretudo as voltas repetitivas se vão acumulando, e não se vê o fim à coisa ("There is no finish"), vai-se perdendo a esperança que esta tortura alguma vez tenha fim.  Para que isso aconteça, os adversários têm que capitular primeiro.
